Checklist for Participants

Thanks for participating in Every Day Matters: A Day in the Life of the Sierra Club! Make it easy on yourself. If you read (and maybe even print out) this page, you can be fully prepared for the big day, August 6. This checklist lists everything you'll need to sail through the submission process.

How to Get Ready for August 6th:

Have a look at the submission form in advance so you're familiar with what you'll be filling out on August 6.
Think ahead about your story for that day. It should be 300 words or less. (See the Story Tips page for ideas.)
Get a friend to take a digital photo if you don't have a camera. Be prepared to send us some photos by email. (See the Photo Tips page for details.)
If there might be recognizable people in the picture besides yourself, print out model releases for them to sign. Seems crazy, perhaps, but the lawyers want us to have these.
Prepare an envelope in advance so you can send the model releases to us as soon as possible, making sure to get everyone's names and signatures. Send them to: Sierra Club, Attn: Jenny Coyle, 85 Second Street, San Francisco, CA 94105.
If you can only take and send print photos, then also prepare an envelope in advance so you can get them off to us ASAP. Send to the same address as above.
Remember: We can't accept photos of children under the age of 18, where the children are recognizable, unless you are their parent or legal guardian. If you cannot see the child's face, then we can probably use the photo.
Think about what the title and the photo caption for your submission might be, and which of our themes it fits: Explore, Enjoy, or Protect?
Read the waiver on the submission form now so you can just check the box when you get to that point on August 6.
Get psyched to submit your photo on August 6 (or August 7 if you can't get to your computer on August 6). If you've read this checklist and prepared in advance, it should be a breeze!
Pat yourself on the back for taking part in a project that demonstrates the power of the grassroots.

Thank you!
